The Marquis of Vale knows he needs to marry and decides he should follow through and make the acquaintance of Eve Marlowe, the woman his late father had wanted him to marry. Before he formally is introduced to Eve however, he unexpectedly meets her more nondescript cousin Amanda, and finds himself more drawn to her than to the more cold and calculating Eve. As the London season wears on, Amanda also finds her heart caught by the handsome nobleman, even as others around them seek to cause trouble for the Marquis.
