the long version

The Arams of Idaho tells of the settling of Camas Prairie, the Nez Perce Indian War, the growth of Idaho County, and life on Joseph Plains as experienced by three generations of one pioneer family, the Arams. Sarah and John Aram, who came to Camas Prairie in 1864 with their young family, were one of the first daring couples to settle the remote and barely accessible areas of Idaho. Four decades later their son, James, resettled on nearby Joseph Plains, a rugged plateau rising to an elevation of 4,500 feet and guarded by the treacherous Salmon and Snake rivers. Based largely on family records and oral interviews with surviving family members, the Arams of Idaho is a tale of the determined people who once populated this remote region, the tasks that consumed their daily lives, the dangers they faced, and the heartbreak they overcame. The events in the Aram's lives provide readers with an opportunity to see how life was experienced at this particular time and place.
