Turning back from nowhere

Lewis Timberlake is a former mayor of Sheffield, Alabama, who served as a flyer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is a recipient of the Navy Cross, the highest naval decoration for heroism in combat, as well as numerous Navy Air Medals, a Presidential Citation, and the Philippines Liberation Medal. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Timberlake is the author of "A Time of War and a Time of Peace."
