"Climate patterns that disrupt ecosystem processes are common and often critical components in the natural cycle of events. Although the Columbia River Basin is not known for extreme climate events (like hurricanes, tornados, intense lightening, or severe drought) many climatic features that are ordinary to the Basin (like summer cold fronts fanning wildfires or rain-on-snow floods) cause significant disruption of ecosystem processes. This report summarizes several aspects of climate that affect disturbance patterns in the Columbia River Basin."--Leaf 1.
