The use of precast concrete for multi-storey framed buildings is widely regarded as an economic, durable, structurally sound and architecturally versatile form of construction, and design concepts have evolved over the past 30 years to satisfy a wide range of building needs. Precast concrete design, manufacture and construction is carried out to the highest standards of exactness - and yet much of the knowledge is restricted to the precast industry itself.
