Madigan had really done it this time. Over almost twenty years as a US marshal he had made plenty of mistakes and faced the music, but this time he'd gone too far. He'd shot the favourite son of a Washington senator. There were always villainous enemies out to get Madigan but even he was out of his depth fighting the wrath of the aroused senator. First there was jail and then his break-out, which led to the greatest danger of all. Now Madigan was a fugitive, fair game for law and enemies alike. Dodging the bullets left him little time to try and redeem himself. And if he couldn't he was finished ... in more ways than one.
