Dr. George Abraham Grierson (1851-1941) and eminent linguist, translator, and lexicographer, translated the verses contained in the manuscripts of Lala vakyani scribed in Sharda and Devnagri presented to him by Mukand Ram Shastri. (Copies of these MSS were discovered by G. Buhler in 1875.) The translation was rendered into English verse by a reputed Indologist Dr.Lionell D. Barnett (1871-1960).The book was published from London by Royal Asiatic Society in 1920. Dr.Lionell D. Barnett is known for several books including Hindu Gods and Heroes, Bhagvad Gita orThe Lord's Song (Translation), and The Greek Drama. Prof. Shafi Shauq( b. 1950-), author of over forty books, is an eminent poet, critic and linguist.
