This text features 25 of Goodman's most important writings originally published between 1965 and 1994 in journals or as chapters of books, which would be difficult for readers to access today. The essays are relevant for classroom teachers, reading specialists, administrators, researchers, and others interested in the reading process. The essays are arranged chronologically within six sections based on key aspects of Goodman's model of the reading process: theoretical model and the process of reading, research on miscue analysis, text analysis, reading as language, literacy development, and teaching and curriculum.
