Of the People, By the People, For the People

the long version

Of the People, By the People, For the People captures the best of Lincoln's thought, bringing readers closer to the quintessential man than any history or biography can. Unforgettable lines and memorable thoughts from speeches, debates, and other public statements make up this book; little-known sayings from his voluminous body of private letters, drafts, and fragments, and even some previously uncollected writings, also serve as the gateway to Lincoln's brilliance and insight. This collection also contains the full text of three of Lincoln's most celebrated speeches: the Farewell to Springfield, Illinois, his hometown; the Gettysburg Address; and the second inaugural address of 1865.
