the long version
The village of Barrowmarsh is full of excitement when, in the early rounds of the FA Cup, the local football team, The Thursdays, is drawn against the mighty United. Mr Frost, a teacher at Ysgol Gynradd Barrowmarsh, is the Thursdays captain. Jenny and Jimmy are twins in Mr Frost's class (their dad's the goalie), and their friends, Sam (who has autism), the bully, 'Nails', and Yunara and Jandir (asylum-seekers from Africa) are all keen to see their team become 'giant-killers'. We follow their adventures in the run-up to the game. And a key role in those adventures and in the game itself is played by Teabag, Jenny and Jimmy's mischievous little apricot poodle ... What will happen when Mr Frost leads his team onto the pitch to face Sir Alec's men?
