Stuck in an elevator, Barbara Harris suddenly remembers years of psychological and physical abuse at the hands of her bipolar Catholic parents and suffers a breakdown, her slow recovery from which, aided by a skilled psychologist, the Psalms, and the poetry of Paul Celan, brings about a strengthening of her faith.
