A nasty illness on top of a broken engagement had left Frances feeling less than her best, so she was glad to accept her aunt’s invitation to visit her on the lsle of Man for a few weeks. And it would be nice too, she thought, to renew her acquaintance with her step- cousin William, whom she remembered from so many happy childhood holidays. She wouldn’t have looked forward to it so much, though, had she known how much William had changed—for the worse. Rude, moody and unreasonable—Frances just couldn't understand him now. Nor could she understand why, in spite of it all, she was becoming more and more attracted to him . . .
