The Bob Dylan Companion, Four Decades of Commentary

the long version

Bob Dylan has made a career out of self-transformation. To the cynical, his shedding of skins has been a combination power trip and lust for fame; to the devoted, it has been an honest, public airing of an ongoing identity search. Either way, Dylan remains maddeningly relevant - no matter how uninterested he appears in his own career. Seemingly out in left field, yet possessing the resourcefulness of a sorcerer, he delivers the goods again and again, and we cannot ignore him. This book collects articles, interviews, opinions, reviews, and rantings and ravings about Mr. D. from the dawn of his career in 1962 through his Grammy Award-winning album, Time Out of Mind.
