His memoirs include his time after joining the diplomatic service in June 1941 where he worked as an interpretor, when his colleagues and himself were taken prisoner after the war by the Soviets and charged with espionage, his time as a prisoner of war until 1955, and how he has since pieced his life back together. He mentions his experiences, encounters, and discussions with personalities who, also on an unforeseeable track, have since left the political and cultural life of Russia.
