Lucinda Matthews' life is perfect. Honey-blond with piercing gray eyes, she is Huntsville, Alabama's most admired debutante, not to mention the twinkle in her beloved fiance, Ben Bradley, 's eye. Then the Civil War invades Lucinda's life. Ben joins the Confederate forces and Yankee troops occupy her home. She finds solace in enemy arms, that of Yankee Major Seth Russell.
