"Furze Hewitt's work in collecting and preserving old knitting patterns is well-known through the publication of several previous books with Kangaroo Press (most recently with *Heirloom Knitting for Dolls* and *High Fashion Knitting for Dolls*). This time she has turned her attention to a collection of beautiful garments and nursery items for young children and babies (and bears), once again in white cotton. Beautiful photography enhances the presentation of the garments, which include christening gowns and little girls' dresses, bonnets, collars, jumpsuits, underwear, an outstandingly beautiful shawl, a baby's cape, jackets and jumpers, cradle and cot covers, towels, bears, and added touches for the nursery. Old patterns, some dating back to the 1890s, have been dissected and reworded in modern-day English to save the knitter from frustration. Adapted where necessary, always the timeless charm of the originals has been preserved. This book should offer enticement and inspiration to all lovers of fine knitting."
