Clarence Jordan translated most of the New Testament into the vernacular of the rural South, calling it The Cotton Patch Version. He died from a massive heart attack in 1969 before completing it. He lacked only Mark, John 9-21, and Revelation. His story is fascinating Clarence Jordan played a significant role in the founding of Habitat for Humanity. .Clarence Jordan was born in Talbotton, Georgia on July 12, 1912; Jordon received a bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Georgia in 1933. Being called by God to vocational ministry, he graduated from Southern Seminary with a doctoral degree in New Testament Greek. Clarence and his wife Florence returned to his native Georgia in 1842, along with some others.
