Sobre o livro

The Yankee Tsunami Trilogy, by Andrew R. DiConti follows the life of a sailor towards the end of the Spanish American War to the end of the Philippine Insurrection. It is a collection of vignettes involving the protagonist, Gamble Crane, and his Pacific Rim exploits in numerous Asian ports of call. The thread throughout the three novels involves Crane’s taboo love for Emily Crane, an American of Chinese ancestry who was born in California. Marriage between couples of Caucasian and Asian ancestry were not only frowned upon, but were eventually prohibited through the passage of miscegenation laws in most of the United States. The period of time in the trilogy was a seminal period in America for not only its military (especially its Navy) but a trying period that saw legislative racism creep into the fabric of the country and exclusionary laws that prevented non'-white races from becoming citizens.
