Avenging the dead

Superintendent Henry Jarrett is under pressure from the Union Bank who are in the midst of a forgery scandal. Just as that inquiry gets under way, the murders begin. Each killing is claimed by a letter-writer calling himself the Scythe, who is in possession of the facts known only to the detectives.
