When Becky Nelson shoots an assailant, she and her half-brother, Matt Miller, are forced to leave behind their placid life on the Ohio River. Fleeing the retribution of the man's prominent family, the two head west. At Independence Becky and Matt join a wagon train bound for the conflict-ridden Oregon Territory.
