This is a 'coming of age' story about the 1960s south and growing up as a frontline beneficiary of the Civil Rights Movement ... when racism was perfectly acceptable, out of wedlock pregnancies were hidden in shame, welfare was only for white people, and the world spun backwards for a young girl yanked out of an integrated society and forced to live in a segregated one.
