the long version
This was largely written by Major Bob Ladson, even though he gave himself no personal credit. It is a very good "fresh" history of the BN, as it was written at the conclusion of the war, during occupation. This history was written, when David W. Meyerson was Bn CO, and is based largely on unit records compiled and edited by Major Bob Ladson, Bn S-3. The book only credits the 2nd Chemical with 6 campaigns, although it was determined that the unit was also entitled to the Ardennes-Alsace, and is now is credited with 7 Battle campaigns by the US Army and the National Archives. Very good chronology, as to assignments and actions of the various companies. Often, different companies of the BN would be assigned to different divisions and regiments. From a historical standpoint, the book gives a great account as to where each company was, and to the great contribution for which this unit was responsible. My father was the ranking NCO of B Company. I found this book to be very helpful in writing my father's personal history. It helped to substantiate his memories, and gave him better recollection of events. Very hard to find book, but it can be read online at 4.2.org.
