The eleven chromos are of objects in the museum that have been drawn in watercolor by Indian students. W. Griggs first demonstrated and published his results in 1868. He wrote about his process in The Photographic News. During the 1870's-80's and 1890's he published a number of books using photolithography to copy rare manuscripts, books, and illustrations.
