the long version
What would you do for a string of matched pearls? A lovely college girl, Constance answers that question by taking vows with her former Sunday School class solely to inherit the beautiful necklace from her grandmother, whose heart was set on Constance following in her footsteps of years ago. A handsome classmate assumes a spiritual devotion that Constance does not feel and makes light of. The pearls around her neck soon become a thorn in her side to Constance, as she's continuously reminded of her false vows. A crisis at college prompts Constance to call upon her Sunday School acquaintance and she begins to understand about the vows she'd pledged. She eventually confesses to her grandmother as her conscience becomes heavier and heavier. Constance comes to embrace the faith she'd once mocked, all for a string of matched pearls.
