the long version

Fiona was surprised and pleased when she learned that her great-uncle had left her his huge estate on the Borders of Scotland - but the only reason it had gone to her was that it was entailed. By every moral right it should have passed to her uncle's foster-son and manager, Ian Hamilton - who had in any case inherited all the money. So if Fiona wanted to keep the estate and Ian wanted to continue running it, there was only one practical solution: they should get married. So that was what they did, on a business basis only.
