This book is the result of a collaborative work of specialists in diverse historical periods and approaches with the aim of offering a panorama of the history of the education of the women in Mexico from the colonial time to our days. The articles of this book retake diverse educative agents: the indigenous home, the Creole and mestizo family, the church, the state, the school, the elites, the workers, the city, the rural school, the books, the political speech, the sermons; they are led to study different levels from the formal education: primary, secondary, technique and superior education. They approach the analysis of the public and privated, the informal and formal education. Therefore, other book value comes as much from the subject as of the diversity of approaches, writing styles, sources and methods.
