Lehman is a freelance writer and photographer, specializing in the topic of dogs and their care. Her articles have appeared in a variety of canine magazines, newspapers, and newsletters. Her books include *Your Healthy Puppy* and *Cairn Terriers (A Complete Pet Owner's Manual).* A member and former treasurer of The Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA), she also served as treasurer of the Dog Writers Educational Trust, an organization that granted scholarship funds to students with a special interest in dogs. DWAA named her book about Cairn Terriers *Best Short Book Under 100 Pages* at its 2000 Awards Dinner, held annually in New York City in conjunction with the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
