As head of the Health in Medicine Project at New York's Montefiore Medical Center, Grossman is concerned with the theoretical and practical synthesis of orthodox and unorthodox healing systems. In the first half of this book he describes Chinese medicine, yoga, homeopathy, body work, nature cures, and home remedies, and discusses what therapeutic potential these modalities hold in the context of Western medicine. The second half is an illustrated how-to on the use of yoga, acupressure, herbs, and homeopathy for specific ailments. A useful annotated checklist of alternative health care books is included.
