Historical novel about the conquest of Lisbon by the Portuguese and Crusaders forces against its Moorish occupants, in 1147. Travelling by ship to the Holy Land, bad weather forced the Crusaders to stop on the Portuguese coast, at the northern city of Porto. Afonso Henriques, first king of Portugal, sent his trusted envoy, Raul Santo-Varão, to meet them with a secret mission: to convince the Crusaders to help the Portuguese army in the siege of Lisbon. In return, the Portuguese king offers the Crusaders a huge treasure buried inside the city's walls.
