This book presents a survey of gerontological research and programs for the 28 countries around the world with substantial activity in this area, including Austria, Canada, Chile, Denmark, the Federal Republic of Germany, Finland, France, the German Democratic Republic, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Switzerland, the USSR, the United Kingdom, the United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Yugoslavia. An introductory section on the demographic situation with regard to the elderly is included for most of the countries listed.
