New Public Governance
Sobre o livro
The term New Public Governance describes increased reliance on network structures of authority to provide public services. In New Public Governance: A Regime-Centered Perspective, the contributors focus on a different set of issues than those commonly found in the current body of scholarship on NPG. The chapters are organized around the following central question: what can we do to insure that the structures and processes of authority in networked governance systems are firmly tethered to the underlying core values and legal principles of the political system? The book argues that NPG requires public administrators to be much clearer than they have been in the past about the constitutional and political values that provide the framework for their work. Written by scholars who have been at the forefront of the NPG debate as well as by scholar-practitioners, the chapters provide the reader with "lessons learned from experience" about how networked, contract-based and partnership-centered approaches to government can be undertaken in ways that preserve the values that are at the center of the American constitutional and political system.
