Young 'Ti Beau dons his snappy new Mardi Gras clothes for a walk through the swamp. Five alligators catch sight of 'Ti Beau's elegant attire and decide that he looks quite tasty. The clever boy figures that being alive is better than looking good, so he bargains away his new clothes until he's left in nothing but his conson. But each gator believes he is the handsomest, grandest, fanciest, swimmiest, spiffiest cocodrie in the bayou, and 'Ti Beau gets trapped by their loud argument.
