Plastics, rubbers and fibres are materials which make a great contribution to our present way of life. Some occur in nature, but in many cases man has to make the raw materials (polymers) by chemical means. He must then convert these, whether natural or man-made, into useful articles. Part 1 of this book deals with the nature and properties of polymers, how man has developed the ones used at present, their manufacture and applications. Part 2 summarises the chemistry involved.
