Well-rounded P.I. Desiree Shapiro brings as much gusto to solving an unsavory crime as she does to creating--and consuming--a savory salmon mousse. But the demise of Luella Pressman has her stumped. The well-known children's book author was found dead of no apparent cause in her study, with only her cat for company. What's more, this adored pet has been transformed from loving feline to total fiend. At the request of her old friend Kevin, one of Luella's four ex-husbands, Desiree begins digging into the victim's life. What she discovers is a woman of enormous wealth, great passion, and very eccentric habits. Unfortunately, the sole witness to the writer's final hours is the cat--who definitely isn't talking.
