Enabling Society with Information Technology

The spread of information technologies is changing how organizations are structured and how people work and live. This volume contains a selection of 36 chapters from among the more than 100 presentations given at the 2000 International Conference on the Information Society in the 21st Century held in Aizu-Wakamatsu, Japan. The work presented here not only covers the most recent research results in emerging information technology-based fields, but also reflects on their impact on society at large.
