Nanticoke was a village in Haldimand County until April 1, 1974 when the city of Nanticoke was formed through the amalgamation of the following localities in Haldimand and Norfolk counties: Nanticoke, Port Dover, Waterford, Jarvis, and parts of the townships of Rainham, Townsend, Walpole and Woodhouse.
