Part Two examines the effects that the ideals of freedom and equality have had in particular areas of American life and their implications for future change. They have particular pertinence to those who wish to see their society become fairer, healthier, happier, more inclusive and more prosperous. Once the outlines of the fundamental morality of the American Dream are clear, the moral choice is not to abolish it but to include everyone in it, not to slow but to accelerate its precipitous spread among the peoples of the world through a wider and deeper understanding of its great promise.
