the long version

Albert Helser penned this account of the missionary efforts of the Sudan Interior Mission in 1946. At that time, leprosy and blindness were the dominant physical difficulties the people of central Africa faced. Missionaries with SIM, often young nurses, dedicated their lives to serving patients in these two groups, people who were often social outcasts because of their infirmities. Lepers were cleansed and healed. The blind were taught to read Braille. All were presented with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Souls were saved. This little book shares some of the stories. It is good to be reminded of a time when Moslem civic leaders would welcome the building of Christian missions even with the stipulation that the mission churches would be open to all who wanted to attend.
