the long version

This is a genealogy of Robert Vose and his descendants, which includes everyone in the book The names, dates and places for Robert, his wife and children start on page 9, branching out all through the years from 1599 to 1932, date the book was published. The easiest way to find your ancestor is in the index, then follow him/her back to Robert. Lookup by SURNAME, then given name ie DOE then Jane. Vose Family Index starts on page 588-606 Other Family Names Index start on page 607 listed alphabetically. In my case, Robert is my 5th great grandfather. Ellen gives some history of some of the families and as she stated there will be mistakes as in my grandfather’s case. He was listed as "Ina" instead of John. I assume because he always signed his name "Jno" instead of John. When he submitted the information, he also abbreviated the town he was born in, Waukesha and it was mistyped as Wonkha. I will use my 2nd Great Grandmother #227 “Catherine Vose” page 246-247 to explain. The information following her name in parentheses, shows the lineage back to Robert, as it will to your ancestor. It continues with her vital information, spouse and parentage, with their vital information when known. It will also list their siblings and their children when known. It will continue forward to 1932 if submitted. Some families have very detailed information and others do not. It all depends on the person(s) submitting the information. This gives you a general idea what to expect. Please use the information you find as a guide and verify it before accepting it as fact, unless you know of your own knowledge it to be fact and have family records showing the same information. No matter, always source your information so that other genealogist may know where you found your information, but most important so you do not keep repeating your steps. I hope this helps all that read it.
