Lucy Devereux survives a car accident, but loses her sight. She also discovers she has inherited her grandfather's fortune. Then, to her horror and amazement, a young man comes forward claiming to be her husband. Lucy has no memory of him at all, but Doctor Harvey Sheridan thinks this could be due to her head injuries. Powerless to resist, Lucy is taken to live with her professed husband's family and soon finds herself a virtual prisoner. Convinced they are conniving to get her money, she appeals for help to Doctor Sheridan.
