Simon, Knight of Lyan, was exhausted from the violence of the Crusades. He wanted to return to his home in Ireland but was attacked by a vampire. He was transformed into a creature of the night and felt horror in his heart when he killed his friend for his blood. His search for a way to restore his humanity leads him to Isabel, who has her own secrets. They find comfort with each other and share their secrets with each other. The time comes, however, when Simon feels the vampire blood lust again.
