My memoirs
Sobre o livro
Very interesting memoirs which the reader is advised not to take as the complete truth. Marguerite Steinheil (nee Japy) was the daughter of a French industrialist and was a renowned beauty and society queen, having several lovers including Felix Faure, the French President. She was allegedly with Faure indulging in 'little naughties' when the President had his fatal heart attack - Marguerite being ushered discreetly out of the building down the back stairs. She next came to the public's attention as a result of the murder of her mother and her husband in May 1908 for which she was subsequently arrested, but subsequently acquitted by a French court. This is described in the Memoirs. Exiling herself to Britain she married into the aristocracy and became Lady Abinger, eventually dying in 1954.
