"Hamutal is married, the mother of two teenaged daughters, and the editor of a respected psychology journal. She has always kept a complicated life under control. But taking care of her mother, a Holocaust survivor suffering from Alzheimer's disease, adds a nearly insupportable degree of responsibility and a burden of grief. Daily visits trigger memories of her own lonely childhood and disturbing revelations of her mother's wartime experiences.
