The goals of this book are to enable a person to gain perspective on a relationship that she or he may have grown too close to, to identify the particular relationship stressors that may be inhibiting growth in a partnership, and to develop new options for dealing with those stressors. More specifically, the book discusses ways of establishing compatibility, learning to diagnose the underlying issues of the relationship, the effects of internalized homophobia, ways to improve communication with your partner, how to negotiate your way out of power struggles, the enlivening effect of constructive fighting, how jealousy can hurt and help your partnership, sexual issues, financial arrangements and legal issues, the role of families in your relationship, having children, and dealing with change in your partnership.
