This memoir is a nostalgic look at life in Erie, Pennsylvania, mostly in the late 1940s and 1950s. The author, born in 1942, relives the simpler time of dial telephones with cords to keep them from disappearing, TVs with 5 knobs and 2 stations, and a downtown shopping area. If you lived then and there, you will remember. If not, it will seem like a foreign country. One in which children actually played outside, were not afraid to walk two miles to school, and were only beginning to develop a youth culture outside the control of their parents.
