"Courting Laura Providencia is a love story of sorts. The story is discovered chapter by chapter (through alternating perspectives) as the main characters, Laura Providencia and Isaac discover, cope with, and attempt to understand all their marriage has inherited. They find affinity despite the ostensible differences of the immigrant cultures they come from - Laura Providencia, Puerto Rican, Isaac, Russian Jewish. They are moved by the transcendent need to articulate and discover truth beyond apparent fact.
