the long version
When Holly St John lost her husband, Robert, after only four years together, she was left with just a few memories - and Miranda, the daughter of his previous marriage. But alone in their little house in Richmond, safe from the world, the two of them were happy. That is until her parents-in-law decided they wanted to see the grand-daughter they had never met - and sent Paul Deslauriers to England to demand that Miranda come and visit them in their luxurious French hotel. But why had the St Martins decided to interfere in their lives now? Knowing that Robert had been estranged from his parents since his first marriage, was Holly right in refusing to let the St Martins see their only grandchild? And why was Paul Deslauriers so determined that both she and Miranda go to France..? Once in France, Holly discovers that the St Martins want Miranda for more than just a visit and she is torn between her love for her little step-daughter - and a fatal attraction that keeps her from leaving the House of Nightingales.
