Rev. Davornen, vicar of a sleepy Sussex parish, enjoys his quiet life of scholarship and pigeon husbandry. When his wandering younger brother Edmund turns up with tales of a successful trading business with the mysterious Capt. Welfare, Davornen is pleased and offers to help finance the endeavor.
