The haughty Duke of Pelham decides to live in the London house on Clarges Street that his unscrupulous agent had been renting out for many years. At the same time he resolves to put the beautiful but vain Jenny Sutherland in her place after meeting her at a country dance. But intrigues involving the close knit family of servants in his town house, led by the butler Rainbird, bring the couple to recognize their own faults and find romance after all.
