We survived

With the Japanese invasion of Indonesia imminent, Nell van de Graaff, accompanied by her three small children, fled her home on a Dutch military base and sought safety in the mountains of West Java. After six months, she and her children were rounded up and herded into a prison camp. Three years of appalling hardship followed. This story of courage is told simply, with no trace of bitterness, only the calm wisdom of a survivor.
